Has 2023 burnt you out?

Well, I have to include myself in this one. 2023 has been a heck of a year. All my clients are feeling the strain and drain as they run into the end of the calendar year. What was so different this year compared to last?

Demand for most goods and services has been high, which is incredibly positive for business owners. However, the inability to find good team members due to the staffing shortage has meant so much more of the day-to-day responsibility falls back on the shoulders of the owner.

This is sustainable for a period, but not 12 months. If you are feeling this way, then here is what I need you to do (disclaimer, one of the most important is finding good team members to delegate to):

  • Do not let this year burn you out. You want to go into 2024 strong, energised and with a clear mind and ambition. This will take an investment from you, but the investment now is better than a cure or solution to fix a bigger problem next year. On the 12th of November I am running my workshop, ‘Success Through Wellbeing’. I want to see you there. Investment in self is vital to growth and success. We will be taking time to reflect upon where we are now and using that as a driver for future success. We will be unpacking goal setting, how it works and why it needs to be structured a very specific way if the goals are to be achieved. Vitally, we invest time in your health and wellbeing. Nutrition – Movement – Mindset (stress, meditation, breath work) – Environment. Giving you the tools and resources to achieve amazing things in 2024. LINK ON MY WEBSITE.
  • You need to invest in your sleep. 6.5hrs minimum and 7-8 ideally. Set a sleep alarm for one hour before you want to be in bed. Turn off screens, put your blue light blocking glasses on and sip on some chamomile tea. Sleep is when we Rest, Repair & Recover.
  • Move every single day for at least 30 minutes. This could be a run, gym, football, walking, yoga. It does not matter, but you need to move every day in some way. Be kind on yourself if some sessions are not as ‘intense’ as you would like. Sometimes life gets busy, or you just ‘don’t feel it’. As long as you move!
  • Be mindful of your eating and drinking at this time of year. Yep, Christmas shows are on the horizon. Think about the cost of having a ‘big one’. Poor sleep, inflammatory food, tiredness, loss of productive time and simply the awful feeling of a hangover. Enjoy yourself but draw the line at 2 – 4 drinks if you want to function well the next day.
  • Make time for your family and friends. Business can become all consuming. It could be having breakfast together every day, a coffee date on the weekend, dinner discussion, day dates etc. If your family is as important to you as mine is (everyone’s values are different), then making time for friends and family energises me and makes me happy.

The list could go on. 2023 has been hard. High demand of people and processes. Do NOT crash out now. Simply adhere to a few simple lifestyle changes and investments and you can finish the year strong and start 2024 full of focus and drive.
